CDRI has always been
successful in meeting the expectations of
the scientific community in general and
common man of the country or the taxpayer
in particular. The scientific achievements
of the institute and its scientists and
infrastructure capabilities built up by
C D R I over the years have largely been
appreciated. The common taxpayer of the
nation witnessed the momentous occasion
of the fruitful achievements of CDRI when
in, 1987, the then Prime minister of India,
Mr. Rajeev Gandhi released four drugs developed
by this Institute.
Since then CDRI has never looked back. More
than a dozen of new drugs developed by the
institute, apart from diagnostics for early
detection of diseases have been developed
since then. Many cheaper and more convenient
technologies for known drugs have been developed
at pilot plant level which have been transferred
to drug industry where they have been successfully
employed.

| The
achievements of CDRI may be broadly
categorized into following main groups |

Achievement
in terms of development of new
drugs, diagnostics
and cheaper and
convenient technologies for
manufacturing drugs and intermediates. |

Achievement
in terms of
publication of more than
eight thousand articles and a couple
of hundred of books and book chapters
by CDRI scientist in the area of biomedical
Sciences and drug research. |
| 3. |
Patent filed
in India and abroad. ( over five
hundred till date) |
| 4. |
Human Resources
Developed for Drug Research and Development
and for the Drugs and Pharmaceutical
Industry. |
| 5. |
Ph
D Theses Submitted by
the Research Fellows of CDRI - More
than one thousand students have been
awarded doctoral and post-doctoral degrees
on the basis of works carried out in
C D R I. |
| 6. |
Short
Term Training Courses
imparted to the personnel working in
Drug Industry, Academic Institutions
and
R & D Organisations. |
| 7. |
Indirect support
provided to the R&D Institutions,
University and academia by providing
Analytical and Information services
and laboratory animals. |
