The incidence of diseases afflicting cardiovascular and central nervous systems, diseases of liver, inflammation, allergy, asthma, diabetes and gastric ulcers are some of the major health problems in India.

The CDRI is pursuing a major research programme in the above areas including basic studies for the identification of molecular targets for new drug screening and mechanism of action studies of candidate drugs.
