Establishment: 1942

The Central Drug Research Institute is a laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (India), which is among the world's largest publicity funded R&D; organisations. The CSIR(India) comprise 40 world-class R&D; establishments and their 80 field stations spread across India and is manned by 10,000 qualified scientists and engineers, besides 13,000 auxiliary and other staff.

The CSIR(I) activities cover almost the entire spectrum of industrial R&D; ranging from aerospace to mining to microelectronics to metallurgy and so on.

CSIR(I) is truly a global R&D; resource. Its patrons and partners hail from over 50 countries. The CSIR(I) laboratories have developed over 4000 technologies, and the industrial production based on its technologies amounts to Rs.45000 million per annum.
