  MICROBIAL INFECTION

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the project area cover the development of vaccines for cholera and tuberculosis, development of rapid molecular screens for drug screening, screening of synthetic compounds and natural products for antituberculosis, antifungal and antibacterial activity, development of diagnostics for tuberculosis infection, construction of mycobacterial vectors, novel antigens and drug targets, identification of genes and proteins expressed during in vivo infection and persistence in mycobacteria, basic studies on mycobacterial, bacterial and HIV proteins and virulence genes. Survival strategy of pathogenic bacteria in different ecological niches.
