| RESEARCH INTEREST |
• |
Our research is aimed at understanding the molecular basis of cardiovascular disorders primarily myocardial infarction. In particular, how endothelial cells coordinate its functions in myocardial infarction and inflammation. Since our research is oriented in understanding pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases, our model system of choice is mouse/rats. We will address this issue using various pharmacological inhibitors and elucidate the molecular mechanisms involved between inhibitors and endothelial cells. Further, we are also interested in understanding the basic intercellular signalling between endothelial cells and pericytes (cells surrounding endothelial cells) in the process of angiogenesis which is essential for normal growth and diseases like cancer, ischaemia etc. |
