CURRENT AREA OF RESEARCH

Dr. Mitra leads the Electron Microscopy group at CDRI and applies a combination of high resolution microscopy approaches such as Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy and other physico-chemical tools to address problems in cell biology. Current research areas are as follows:
- Studies on mode of action of biologically active leishmanicidal and anti-cancer agents
- On-going collaborative projects include evaluation of novel fluorescent compounds for cell imaging applications, mode of action of anti-microbials, characterization of drug delivery systems and filariasis
