AREA OF RESEARCH SPECIALIZATION

Cellular and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Cell Cycle Checkpoints

CURRENT AREA OF RESEARCH

All unicellular or multicellular organisms have to maintain faithful chromosome segregation from mother cells to daughter cell. Any defect in this process can leads to aneuploidy which is the most common characteristic of human solid tumors. Cell cycle checkpoints are required to maintain the integrity of the genome. Our laboratory is applying genetic, molecular and biochemical approaches in fission yeast S. pombe to understand the mechanism of mitotic checkpoint.
