aspergillus
fumigatus, candida albicans and
cryptococcus neoformans cause a variety
of clinical symptoms in human and animals.
aspergillus fumigatus is the
major causative agent of aspergelosis and
induces hypersenstive reactions of type
I and type III resulting in elevated levels
of specific antibodies. Diagnostic value
of specific antibodies to aspergillus
fumigatus is well established in
allergic bronchopulmonary aspergelosis,
aspergilloma and early Aspergillus
involvement in other clinical conditions.

Major
clinical symptoms of aspergillosis include
fleeting shadows in the lungs, pulmonary
eosinophilia, fever and bronchospasm. These
symptoms are often mistaken for tuberculosis
and result in irreversible fibrotic change.
Target groups for screening for aspergillosis
include asthmatic, tuberculosis, post Kochs,
leukemics, malignancies, HIV and thalassemics.
